Join us for a free paddle on World Rivers Day
Always wanted to try paddleboarding or kayaking?
Join us for a free paddle on the stunning River Maitai on Saturday 21 September to celebrate World Rivers Day!
Have you walked or cycled along the River Maitai and wondered what it might be like to be on the water instead? Bring all the whānau and come and enjoy time on the water together with us and experience our beautiful river in a safe environment!
World Rivers Day is all about celebrating our precious water ways across the globe, protecting our waters and looking after them for future generations to enjoy. Join us on the Maitai opposite the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson, and be ready to paddle at 10am.
All paddlers are welcome to bring their own paddling crafts (paddleboard, kayak, surfski and more) and join us on the water, or if you don’t have your own, you can hire a paddleboard or kayak (or our Big Tahuna megaSUP) from us for free, thanks to Nelson City Council.
Expect some river side stalls and educational activities on the shore, and don’t forget to bring a picnic to enjoy post paddle!
